WIND EYE

Gavin Parry is an extraordinary photographer and purveyor of northern psychogeography, as you may well discover by visiting his excellent blog The Smell of Water. He invited us to play at an exhibition of his photographs at Cafe Etch in Middlesbrough. We were delighted to do so, and our Water/Wind/Fire material seemed appropriately elemental, so we did that.

The photographs often give an impression of claustrophobia and vastness at the same time, being taken from behind triple layered oil rig windows, looking out over an endless expanse of sea. There is a strange light through veins of rain and unidentified staining.

It was one of those nights when everything just fell into place, great art, great beer, great chips. Brian from TSR2 was there with Andy Fierman and we had a chat with Cafe Etch boss Mike Guess. Plans were hatched for an electronic night at some point in the future.
